Being the elder statesman of this team I decided on racing the 50+ at the Green Mountain Stage Race. I managed to finally get a win this season in the Circuit race. I didn't have any teammates but I did have some secret help from my fellow Maine racers. Things pretty much stayed together in the Circuit race. This past weekend would be the first good races for me since the Green Mountain Verge double header. I got sick with a nasty chest cold two days before Gloucester, only to finish a disappointing 7th in the masters 45+ race. I went as hard as I could and it hurt so much I could not race the next day. I quickly watched my second place in the series go away. The next weekend I felt the same, lousy.

The Burlington Crit is one of the reasons I race bikes. By far my favorite course, technical, fast, with a downtown setting, and lots of people watching plus a warm sunny day makes for a very festive atmosphere. I couldn't help but notice that in Sunday's USPRO RR Championships in Greenville, NC was won by Tyler Hamilton who was racing on a FUJI SL-1 Frameset. New course as the bridge on Rt 2 was washed away by one of the many strong rain storms earlier this summer. Thankfully a new circuit replaced the one we raced on a couple of years ago.
